Sweat the Small Stuff

Sweat the Small Stuff

One of human’s chief illusions, is that the small stuff’ doesn’t matter.

That the ‘small stuff’ is void of impact.

We don’t agree...

Too easily, are the ‘small things’ like care labels, threads, buttons, packaging, interfacing, dyes, inks etc - submerged beneath the accolades of a garment boasting 100% organic, natural fibres or a recycled composition.

These ‘small stuffs’ still make up a considerable percentage of a finished garment.

We’ve got to consider their impacts also.

Most pieces of clothing, contain some or even all of the following materials:

  • Outer/main fabric
  • Threads
  • Buttons
  • Zips
  • Interfacing
  • Lining
  • Elastic / Closures
  • Dyes
  • Prints
  • Embroidery

& more!

Yes, it’s great to have a garment with a biodegradable/low impact outer fabrication - but what about the rest?

As consumers, we should know every component possible which is going into our clothing. They determine its impact post, during and after production. But often - all we see is the outer fabric & the rest is hidden...

For brands, knowing and being able to trace every component of your pieces will put you ahead of the game both in risk & impact management.
