Meet The Makers

On A Mission For People + Planet

We are honoured to work with Solid to bring forwards our Hand Crocheted & Knitted styles. Their heart for people & creating an industry in which not only creates beautiful, consciously made products but changes the lives of communities along the way is truly inspiring & aligns with our mission at WP.

'In Peru, teenage pregnancies remain a large problem. Through different social projects Solid wants to fight this gender-based violence and strengthen the parenting skills, self-reliance and emotional well-being of these young parents, so they can break through the vicious circle of violence and poverty and provide a better future for their children.' - Solid International

What's most poignant about developing a supply chain with a foundation of people & planet, is the realisation how much our small actions can be big actions to others. We are capable of making a difference & pioneering for change.

When you purchase a WP garment, not only are you investing in a piece which has been made with textiles that can restore & re build ecosystems - you're also making a difference to someone's life. Giving them the opportunity to be education, fed, housed & to gain financial independence.
Solid is Guaranteed Fair Trade certified ensuring the Artisans have a fair income to cover the standard of living incorporating (  food, water, housing, education, health care, transport, clothing and the ability to save for unexpected events.)
In addition to this monetary income, Solid provides many additional benefits, as child-care on site, social workshops, flexible working hours, the possibility to get an advanced payment, etc

Thank you for Walking the Protest with us & deciding to invest in pieces that can create positive change.

We are proud to be partnered with many value aligned companies throughout Peru, Australia & Europe whom share our visions for the future of fashion.

When you support us, you support them.
The Organic Cotton we source is grown in Peru. Growing Organic Cotton creates opportunities with this crop that are void of the hazardous chemical impacts conventional cotton requires creating a much safer and more sustainable life for the farmers involved. The company which spins our organic cotton is Creditex, also in Peru.

Our Hand Crocheted & Knitted styles are botanically dyed in Peru by a small women led business called Pichinku. The team seasonally picks for botanical plants & flowers to bring forwards vibrantly coloured yarns coloured from their surrounding resources. Dana the founder of Pichinku understood that if traditional artisanal work isn't supported financially it will be lost over time & that poverty doesn't leave time for hobbies. Pichinku is a team of 3 Peruvian women and Dana who all earn fair & stable wages. Pichinku was born to create an environmentally friendly & socially conscious product which helps preserve artisan crafts.

Our Cut & Sew Pieces

Meet Beatrice, the owner & founder of Hemp Gallery Australia. Beatrice is on a mission to bring ethical & sustainable Hemp to Australia & make the use of this incredibly restorative fibre normalised through having strong relationships with her off shore suppliers, routinely conducting surprise visits & ensuring her ethical standards are upheld. She is a wealth of knowledge upon the properties of hemp & we are honoured to be working with her in sourcing for our first cut & sew pieces the Garden Scene Tee & Contrast Stitched Robe.

Our cut & sew pieces are hand sewn in Melbourne Australia, using our 100% Hemp & 100% organic cotton thread. The team is small but talented & dedicated to a more positive future for the fashion industry. The team at Creation Collective all earn above award wages for their craft.

Printing of our cut & sew takes place in Sydney Australia also, where it's a one man show! Peter the owner prints all of our pieces individually & provides us with our finished pieces.

We are so proud of who we work with & we are so proud of how many people a single garment can help for the better.

EDUCATION

At the core of our mission lies a commitment to consumer education as we recognise the pivotal role that individuals play as catalysts for change. Our goal is to cultivate a spirit of inquiry within our community, inviting you to explore our relationship with earth & fashion's impact with a string of hope setting the foundation for a newly inspired industry.

CIRCULARITY

Our values are simple but deeply rooted—we aim to reflect nature for a healthier planet. The fashion industry's annual waste of 92 million tons is a serious climate emergency, and we're passionate about addressing this & making a change. Our collections represent a commitment to circular supply chains, where every component is carefully considered to ensure it returns harmlessly back to the Earth. Our hope is to inspire other companies to adopt similar practices, contributing to the well-being of our planet in this contemporary world.

REGENERATION

The concept of regeneration is still finding its way into universal understanding, closely tied to circularity and vital for the healing of our Earth. In our supply chain, we make it a priority to collaborate with materials and companies that actively engage in practices aimed towards regenerating the Earth, its soil, and ecosystems. Our focus lays within promoting biodiversity and carbon sequestration through our supply chain. Fashion holds a power to instigate positive change for our environment, and we're here to shine a spotlight on that potential.

COMMUNITY

Hope stands as the antidote to our collective fears, and the power of community is the catalyst for significant change. Walking Protest beckons everyone—whether you're a climate enthusiast, someone unfamiliar with environmental issues, an advocate for change, or indifferent. Our mission is to create a safe space for all, where questions find voice, theories are challenged, and the seeds of inspired change can take root in the vibrant and lively Walking Protest World.
